<br />
2 years??? I haven't made a post in 2 years??? My goodness...where have I been?<br />
<br />
Well, long story short, I was sick and depressed for a year. I lost a really good job due to being so sick. It was a dark year. I don't want to share much about it, but let's just say it was bad.<br />
<br />
But then things started to get better, I started to feel better, I started a new job, and things are overall much better. The only negative thing really, was the fact I lost my dear dog in later November. She had been declining for many years, and we knew it was finally time to let her rest. She was my first dog, and she broke my heart. Her brother is still around to comfort me, but it's just not the same.<br />
<br />

<br />
Anyhow...here I am! Back to crafting, and sharing that crafting with you all.<br />
<br />
Once my knitting mojo started to come back, I decided to start small and pick up some cotton and make some dishcloths. Here is my first one, my first finish of the year. If you are bothered by swear words you might not want to look...<br />

This is for a Sassy Craft Along a friend is running, and it made me laugh. I know it will make the recipients laugh as well. I already cast on #2.<br />
<br />
I also picked up the yarn required to make the <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/nightshift" target="_blank">Nightshift Shawl</a>. I was so excited I cast on right away.<br />

I am really liking the color combination, but I am thinking of swapping the background and the contrast color every block, so the next block will have the Noro in the background and the lime as the contrast.<br />
<br />
What do you think? Or should I just keep the lime as the background the entire way?Gwenyth Lovehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03827209367845917655noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3374742007184193176.post-28466473371147385682018-01-14T15:01:00.000-08:002018-03-30T22:17:34.663-07:00[YOP] Week of January 20th, 2018<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This has been a pretty quiet crafting week, at least that I can share.<br />
<br />
The majority of my crafting time has been spent focusing on the brioche shawl test knit, and I can't share any more images of that until it's completed. But, needless to say, I am going to be able to cross off my brioche goal for 2018 for sure just with this project!<br />
<br />
I did do a bit more work on my <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/simply-shimmering-stole" target="_blank">Shimmering Stole</a> since I don't feel comfortable taking my brioche project to my social knit night. I also did some more work on the House Cozy MKAL, but I didn't get a chance to take a picture of it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The yarn I ordered for my <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/winterberry-7" target="_blank">Winterberry</a> sweater finally arrived. It's gorgeous. I can't wait to cast on, but it will have to wait until I finish the test knit. If I don't wait I will get too distracted and never finish by the deadline. I am already worried about it since I am a slower knitter.<br />

<br />
It's been a pretty good week for me. I made it to work every day this week, I went to the gym once, I got in some healthy grocery shopping, and so much more. More details on non-crafty related items can be found on my <a href="http://everything-gwenny.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">personal blog</a> if you are interested.<br />
<br />
Now for the crafty goals!<br />
<br />
1. Buying yarn. - This is a big fail. But, the majority or yarn I purchased is for specific gifts for specific people, so I am actually OK with this.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvJBden-GDi_XHc6xEsT778A0Z-HlOO6egZ0f1GQbqcqpGEZX6ZPYvm_NESz-mfBP_8V6cQfQDcy7NugONIt1XLMuVejEdZeJmsesWTmQFHtDDeAmiZ8ARIIUVNmpDGOAnUsF6-s9T2SA/s1600/2018-01-05+21.59.14.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvJBden-GDi_XHc6xEsT778A0Z-HlOO6egZ0f1GQbqcqpGEZX6ZPYvm_NESz-mfBP_8V6cQfQDcy7NugONIt1XLMuVejEdZeJmsesWTmQFHtDDeAmiZ8ARIIUVNmpDGOAnUsF6-s9T2SA/s400/2018-01-05+21.59.14.jpg" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2. Using stash yarn. This is actually working for me. I was accepted to do a brioche shawl test knit and I will be using approximately 9 skeins, 3 of each colour, of the luscious Cadena Alpaquita I have in stash. This is going to be a gorgeous and super squishy brioche shawl! I can't wait! Sneak peek below!</div>

4. Frog unloved projects. I frogged another project this week. It feels good. It was another victim of not swatching and ending up super HUGE! 30 inches just for the front...yeah... I am going to see if my mom wants this yarn since it's cotton and she loves cotton.</div>

<br />
I am looking forward to 2018 for many reasons. More focused crafting goals are indeed some of them.<br />
<br />
Every year I make fitness goals, general self-improvement goals, education goals, and of course crafting goals. Pretty much every yeh I fall flat and blame illness or something else.<br />
<br />
This year I am so much more motivated. If you are interested, beyond crafting, feel free to visit my personal blog, <a href="http://everything-gwenny.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Everything Gwenny</a>. I will be posting a 2018 goals entry there as well.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRxN8yH2MBEO4h_1oyWcT2UVa1abb4aiVYEYC49TzD53kVeJ2cZcocIgYQhH285EknAoMv-a7cPFmAjsxptaIwCuXTITc03pMqEMQidgKyaxx2B0YiF8z-3Q_OUPPnoA2VA9EiCeFqLC4/s1600/862577996.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="406" data-original-width="612" height="265" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRxN8yH2MBEO4h_1oyWcT2UVa1abb4aiVYEYC49TzD53kVeJ2cZcocIgYQhH285EknAoMv-a7cPFmAjsxptaIwCuXTITc03pMqEMQidgKyaxx2B0YiF8z-3Q_OUPPnoA2VA9EiCeFqLC4/s400/862577996.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
With regards to my crafting goals, the last few years I have made the same goals, and not been very successful at them.<br />
<br />
This year I am much more dedicated. After two years dealing with major illness and having to take full sick leaves, I need to spend a year saving and have made some other life goals for this year to help.<br />
<br />
My main crafting related goals are as follows:<br />
<ol>
<li>Try to avoid buying yarn as much as possible. </li>
<ul>
<li>I am making exceptions for Unique Sheep KALs only this year. No sweater club, geek club, etc. /sadface </li>
<li>I also already preordered some yarn for a specific project, so even though that will be paid for and arrive in the new year I am counting it as 2017 yarn.</li>
<li>I have worked in a way to “earn” yarn buying money with exercise minutes. I will be making a more detailed blog post about this later.</li>
</ul>
<li>Try use up stash for any new projects.</li>
<li>Try to finish off some WIPs languishing in my pile.</li>
<li>Frog projects that I know I will never bring myself to finish to repurpose yarn or donate to charity.</li>
<li>Go through my stash and sell or donate skeins I no longer love.</li>
<li>Attempt the Boo Knits 2018 Challenge. My entry post can be found <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/discuss/boo/3707602/26-50#26">here</a>.</li>
<li>Learn double knitting. I am hoping to do the <a href="http://lattesandllamas.com/2017/12/10/five-years-of-geeking-along/" target="_blank">GAL afghan</a> this year, or at least some of the squares. I am just waiting to see what the theme(s) will be before I commit.</li>
</ol>
For item #3 I have created a <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/" target="_blank">Ravelry</a> project titled Knit The Bin 2018 where I list which WIPs I want to focus on, and the progress towards completing them. The project page can be found <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/projects/gwenythlove/knit-the-bin-2018" target="_blank">here</a>. I currently have 10 projects listed. I doubt this will happen, but I want to have something to strive for!<br />
<br />
This item also includes the full finish, which means weaving in ends, seaming, and blocking! I am notoriously bad at finishing something and then showing it in a bag, or somewhere else, and not truly finishing it. I have already started working on this habit by blocking the shawl that I completed and posted about in last week's post. It looks so lovely! I always forget how much a good blocking changes a project for the better.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIBb8xuejxZQHymUFlrggNBA_cMdTje46qpC125CpJOa242QaFrzS6Wfrgr8pDTBc4ctN2hyREk8Jdww7caqR_perlvByZXJE8lpXAic3D-3bO4JW7IdR_-TnwaYDcC7PuS6W74ADxLL4/s1600/2017-12-27+13.23.57.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIBb8xuejxZQHymUFlrggNBA_cMdTje46qpC125CpJOa242QaFrzS6Wfrgr8pDTBc4ctN2hyREk8Jdww7caqR_perlvByZXJE8lpXAic3D-3bO4JW7IdR_-TnwaYDcC7PuS6W74ADxLL4/s400/2017-12-27+13.23.57.jpg" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The next item I have from the WIP pile to be finished is my <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/projects/gwenythlove/mara" target="_blank">Mara shawl</a>. I started it with my best friend in August of 2014. She finished hers long ago. I have no excuses. I just have to finish the edge and cast off. It is to be 4 inches. I am so close. I have quite a bit of yarn left though so I might make it longer. I am also considering an i-cord bind off, but that might be insane.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
I have already started working on item #4. The first victim is a sweater I started for my son in late 2013. This was before I learned the ins and outs of a gauge swatch (well gauge in general really), carrying colours up the side, and so much more. It has been sitting so long there was dust gathering on it…oops.<br />
<br />
I am hoping this yarn is not lost now. I am hoping to reskein it and give it a gentle bath and maybe save it. Honestly, I wasn’t much of a fan of the yarn anyhow, part of the reason I didn’t keep working on it. It’s a 50/50 merino wool and cotton worsted blend. I would like to at least donate it to one of the groups that knit for charity (of I can save it).<br />

For #5 I already have a bag set aside that I have been dumping the skeins into. I pick out any high-end ones that I might be able to sell and then list them on <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/people/gwenythlove/stash/trade" target="_blank">Ravelry stash page</a>. I then let my mother and sister go through it and pick what they like first, then my sister-in-law who knits for charity, and anything left goes to my local charity.<br />

<br />
In typical Gwenny fashion, I have been very lazy at updating this blog! I have had one hell of a year dealing with a new job, illness, a son heading to college, and so much more!<br />
<br />
On a positive note, I have finished several projects this year, including a sweater for myself, and I am very proud of that!<br />
<br />
<b><u>Project #1</u></b><br />
I started and finished a test knit for a lovely shawl by designer <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/designers/deborah-arnouts" target="_blank">Deborah Arnouts</a> called <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/my-heart-in-the-highlands" target="_blank">My Heart in the Highlands</a>. It was made with a super squishy <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/pandias-jewels-hand-dyed-yarn-aran-tweed" target="_blank">Aran Tweed</a> gradient set dyed by <a href="https://www.pandiasjewels.com/" target="_blank">Pandia's Jewels</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgI6QInjTKpOQolwMKnz2ZHs1onPMyIjpj1l_Fj3CwePpzr9v-29rS8zAQ0YEgh7HVNj0FOkRrZ76wp97ntlsu6FtJB7puyjj-WXyQCP_amIQxB_x2nVfR5BEMhaitBMrHDK2Hz_0PQj2c/s1600/IMG_1810_medium2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgI6QInjTKpOQolwMKnz2ZHs1onPMyIjpj1l_Fj3CwePpzr9v-29rS8zAQ0YEgh7HVNj0FOkRrZ76wp97ntlsu6FtJB7puyjj-WXyQCP_amIQxB_x2nVfR5BEMhaitBMrHDK2Hz_0PQj2c/s400/IMG_1810_medium2.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<b><u>Project #2</u></b><br />
I also finally finished my first <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/designers/stephen-west" target="_blank">Stephen West</a> MKAL project from 2014! This is the <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/exploration-station" target="_blank">Exploration Station</a> from the WestKnits Fall MKAL 2014. I don't know what took me so long to finish it. It's lovely! I blame the brioche section and i-cord bind off. I used multiple yarns I purchased back in 2014 specifically for this project from a LYS called Lettuce Knit that has since ceased business. 2 skeins of <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/shantiknits-sock-yarn" target="_blank">Shantiknits Sock Yarn</a> in Pumpkinfest and Spring Time, 1 skein of <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/julie-asselin-nanos" target="_blank">Julie Asselin Nanos</a> in Jaipur, and 1 skein of <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/blue-moon-fiber-arts-socks-that-rock-lightweight" target="_blank">Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks That Rock</a> in Stumptown Brown.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<b><u>Project #3</u></b><br />
I started and finished a simple hat for my husband for Christmas. It has been the only thing he has ever asked me to knit for him. This is the <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/barley-2" target="_blank">Barley</a> hat by <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/designers/tincanknits" target="_blank">Tin Can Knits</a>. I knit it in <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/estelle-yarns-estelle-worsted" target="_blank">Estelle Worsted</a> in a basic black (because that's all he will wear).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp_YPU7PX9-b-uSuO4_hPFqd-257K03C3RhHZDONxmUQ7SSlgZhamGef4vySrb0jX3pwC7fS02QRhA1jKRQlOIqRwIDD9s9iidnWg895euAZgKrtKMaDMDZ0WH9iPHN0X6AA84T6or8Es/s1600/2017-11-30_19.15.50_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="360" data-original-width="640" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp_YPU7PX9-b-uSuO4_hPFqd-257K03C3RhHZDONxmUQ7SSlgZhamGef4vySrb0jX3pwC7fS02QRhA1jKRQlOIqRwIDD9s9iidnWg895euAZgKrtKMaDMDZ0WH9iPHN0X6AA84T6or8Es/s400/2017-11-30_19.15.50_medium2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<b><u>Project #4</u></b><br />
I started and finished the <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lemongrass" target="_blank">Lemongrass</a> sweater I have been wanting to knit for a long time. I already had the yarn, and the designer, <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/designers/joji-locatelli" target="_blank">Joji</a>, has a KAL every fall. Since I was on sick leave this year I decided it was the best year to do it. With the motivation of the KAL and the time due to sick leave, I was able to accomplish my goal. I knit it in the denim colourway of Americo's <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/americo-original-cadena-alpaquita" target="_blank">Cadena Alpaquita</a>. This is one of my favourite yarns. I am sad that <a href="https://www.americo.ca/" target="_blank">Americo</a> will no longer be carrying it. Luckily they have many more gorgeous yarns to ogle over.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTJPflERlUKZW_76TZCHbXCPqH1zVKuCEzJ0sQ5WE8dtrMQBiUmD-Q6_czmPouuLCE4Ug5uN5iFuC89hdl2IssdsPAuuLUTvCw-_OZSQyP9V4ddN3xVLCDWQGuuL0SQ4QHqkNjowESlbI/s1600/2017-12-10_23.04.46_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="360" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTJPflERlUKZW_76TZCHbXCPqH1zVKuCEzJ0sQ5WE8dtrMQBiUmD-Q6_czmPouuLCE4Ug5uN5iFuC89hdl2IssdsPAuuLUTvCw-_OZSQyP9V4ddN3xVLCDWQGuuL0SQ4QHqkNjowESlbI/s400/2017-12-10_23.04.46_medium2.jpg" width="225" /></a></div>
<b><u><br /></u></b>
<b><u>Project #5</u></b><br />
And finally, I was able to start and finish a shawl for a co-worker as a Christmas gift. I completed it on the evening of December 23rd. It will be gifted to her when I return to work (hopefully) in the new year. This is the <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/rushing-tide-shawl" target="_blank">Rushing Tide Shawl</a> by <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/designers/felicia-lo" target="_blank">Felicia Lo</a> of <a href="http://sweetgeorgiayarns.com/" target="_blank">SweetGeorgia Yarns</a>. I used <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/sweetgeorgia-yarns-tough-love-sock" target="_blank">SweetGeorgia Yarns Tough Love Sock</a> yarn in Mulberry. I just need to block this to open up the lacework.<br />
<br />

<br />
I am going to be focusing on WIPs and using up stash next year. Look for my 2018 goals post in the new year for more details.<br />
<br />
I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and have a fantastic New Year!Gwenyth Lovehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03827209367845917655noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3374742007184193176.post-11579590727288507532016-11-07T09:04:00.002-08:002016-11-07T09:04:45.526-08:00[YOP] Week of November 6th, 2016<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Wow! I really suck at this blogging regularly thing don't I? It's been almost 10 months since my last update!<br />
<br />
To be fair, a lot has happened. Those who know me well know I was diagnosed with a chronic illness, and it wreaked havoc on my life the past few years. This year I hit an all time low and had to leave work on a sick leave and pretty much chew painkillers like candy until I was finally take in for surgery this summer. I just finally returned to (mostly) normal life in September and am back at work and trying to (slowly) pull my life back together.<br />
<br />
That being said, I did get a heck of a lot of crafting done during those months! I mean...what else was I supposed to do with myself stoned and useless except watch Netflix and knit.<br />
<br />
Let's see if I can touch on all the projects I have had ongoing since my last update, starting with ones I have actually finished. That's right! Your heard correctly! Projects I actually finished!<br />
<br />
Firstly, I completed one square from <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/norahs-vintage-afghan" target="_blank">Norah's Vintage Afghan</a> for my <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/groups/german-shepherd-lovers" target="_blank">German Shepherd Lovers</a> <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/" target="_blank">Ravelry</a> group. Each of us knit a square for the afghan and the complete afghan was then auctioned off and the funds were donated to a deserving dog rescue. The yarn used was Berroco Vintage, and the colourway was Oats. Here is my square.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://68.media.tumblr.com/d5a9158d9181d7a5edb68f50bb8220e4/tumblr_o5hxlhEd1V1qkov1zo1_1280.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://68.media.tumblr.com/d5a9158d9181d7a5edb68f50bb8220e4/tumblr_o5hxlhEd1V1qkov1zo1_1280.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And here is the completed afghan.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8NdJWYJdji-LtpjL-3i3ItMHPSaz7NYlV3yH85foMEfWUuViClGBHQpr5YBwQYtbch6iTM5Cwdml9G6HQKJbYf_hytX_V7_QERX5cgmZEvQLWg8fcEgiH4GBAPwe0FCwOS-ahAo2IWRY/s1600/image_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8NdJWYJdji-LtpjL-3i3ItMHPSaz7NYlV3yH85foMEfWUuViClGBHQpr5YBwQYtbch6iTM5Cwdml9G6HQKJbYf_hytX_V7_QERX5cgmZEvQLWg8fcEgiH4GBAPwe0FCwOS-ahAo2IWRY/s400/image_medium2.jpg" width="307" /></a></div>
<br />
Next up, was my lovely (and aptly named) <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/a-little-slice-of-chaos" target="_blank">A Little Slice of Chaos</a> shawl. This was both the pattern, and the yarn, from my April 2016 <a href="http://www.indigodragonfly.ca/smart-ass-knittersworld-domination-club-2/" target="_blank">SAK (Smart-Ass Knitters) yarn club</a>. The yarn is Chaingeling DK from <a href="http://www.indigodragonfly.ca/" target="_blank">Indigodragonfly</a> in the Prince inspired colourway Ω≠∅. The picture isn't great, and the shawl still needs to be blocked, but she is finished.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://68.media.tumblr.com/08c87365fd540a10f0376b8b6efe1720/tumblr_o9whtfD80R1qkov1zo1_1280.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://68.media.tumblr.com/08c87365fd540a10f0376b8b6efe1720/tumblr_o9whtfD80R1qkov1zo1_1280.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And finally, my favourite so far, was my <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wintersweet-2" target="_blank">Wintersweet</a> shawl by <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/designers/boo-knits" target="_blank">Boo Knits</a>. I adore Boo's patterns, and I have started many of them. But this is the very first time I have ever finished one, and it definitely won't be the last! This shawl is gorgeous! And with just under 1,100 beads added, it's also a piece of artwork. I am almost afraid to wear it. Again, the pictures are not the best, and it still needs to be blocked, but it is finished! This was one of my <a href="http://serenityyarns.blogspot.ca/2016/01/yop-week-of-january-24th-2016.html" target="_blank">Knit The Bin</a> project goals so it makes me doubly happy! The yarn is lovely lace weight 100% tussah silk from <a href="https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/DyeForYarn" target="_blank">DyeForYarn</a> in the Crumbled Eiffel Tower colourway.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiz0hvbyUdAj3f-jSDpce9srdpG5SMPKX2Zwfij2TQSaV-wdPzNNuV3PlRNUtGG0niT07WgE5xuHdKrr3n4Nt6w-D0DLUl3LRQV0-Q2dbn43UtQwkoJVoY6izb7kr73QNIx69BvwvGfPf4/s1600/2016-08-17+13.54.53.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiz0hvbyUdAj3f-jSDpce9srdpG5SMPKX2Zwfij2TQSaV-wdPzNNuV3PlRNUtGG0niT07WgE5xuHdKrr3n4Nt6w-D0DLUl3LRQV0-Q2dbn43UtQwkoJVoY6izb7kr73QNIx69BvwvGfPf4/s400/2016-08-17+13.54.53.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Well that's it for finishes...for now!<br />
<br />
Let's see what is new and exciting on my needles.<br />
<br />
First up, I am working on a type of Scoreboard Scarf for the hubby. He loves the <a href="https://www.nhl.com/mapleleafs" target="_blank">Toronto Maple Leafs</a>, but they always do so horribly. He was really excited for them this year due to a few additions to the team, specifically <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auston_Matthews" target="_blank">Auston Matthews</a>, their number one draft pick for this season. I wanted to document this journey with the scarf. I am using Rowan Pure Wool Superwash DK in Snow and Navy, but I am not super fond of it. I really hope it softens up more in the soak and block stage. Here it is so far after the first 12 games. The Navy represents the Leafs and the Snow represents their opponents. There is still a lot more Snow than I like, but a lot more Navy than I was expecting. /grins<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpoFAD8eDsY0P0SsSMdcx6aXeEWf5pcZdO_SSLmk0XNQWgWhHO0IP19a2mqGcpiO4sc1vN5PN9uUZp_nLXSl-7xqSN5UeTPlSNN7LWYst3_Zj2Z_JK8MaNT510OJSE2pt9NfZMGfHjdL8/s1600/2016-11-06+15.17.44.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpoFAD8eDsY0P0SsSMdcx6aXeEWf5pcZdO_SSLmk0XNQWgWhHO0IP19a2mqGcpiO4sc1vN5PN9uUZp_nLXSl-7xqSN5UeTPlSNN7LWYst3_Zj2Z_JK8MaNT510OJSE2pt9NfZMGfHjdL8/s400/2016-11-06+15.17.44.jpg" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
Also currently on my needles is the <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/pumpkin-spice-10" target="_blank">Pumpkin Spice</a> shawl by <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/designers/threebagsfulled" target="_blank">Threebagsfulled</a> in the <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/groups/criminal-knitsfor-the-serial-knitter-in-all-of-us" target="_blank">Criminal Knits</a> Ravelry group. A KAL is being hosted in both the CK group as well as the <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/groups/fans-of-wolles-yarn-creations" target="_blank">Wolle's</a> group as the pattern was designed for the new <a href="https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/WollesYarnCreations" target="_blank">Wolle's Silk Cotton Heather yarn</a>. I chose the Red Heather colourway for my shawl, although it looks a little pink in this horrible picture. The picture of the yarn alone is a more accurate depiction of the colour.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I am also working on a sweater for my son. When I asked him what colour he would wear he picked red, so red it is! This is <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/flax" target="_blank">Flax</a>, a free pattern on Ravelry by <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/designers/tincanknits" target="_blank">Tin Can Knits</a> and the yarn is <a href="https://www.shelridge.com/" target="_blank">Shelridge</a> Yarns Soft Touch W4 (worsted) in the Cardinal colourway. It's a gorgeous Canadian 100% merino yarn I discovered in my local yarn store, <a href="http://creativeyarns.ca/" target="_blank">Creative Yarns</a> in Scarborough. I am hoping to have it done for Christmas...but there is still quite a bit to go...and I am easily distracted.<br />

<br />
These are my most important projects right now. I also have two sweaters on the go. One is stalled waiting for help from the designed because I keep mucking something up, and the other is stalled in the seaming phase...because seaming... I also am starting another MKAL, a Velveteen Rabbit themed MKAL, on Friday.<br />

<br />
I participate in "A Year of Projects" which is run by a <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/groups/a-year-of-projects" target="_blank">group</a> over on <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/" target="_blank">Ravelry</a>.<br />
<br />
I am hoping it will (a) help me be more productive (b) help me finish more projects and (c) help me blog more often... Fingers crossed!<br />
<br />
Here is an update on current goals, and progress towards those goals.<br />
<br />
<b><u>General Overall Goals</u></b><br />
<ul>
<li><b>finish more projects - </b>Nothing completed this week except two full clues of two separate MKALs.</li>
<li><b>start fewer projects</b> - I only started one new project this week, and with stash yarn! So that's good...right? I have two others that will start in the near future though...maybe this week...</li>
<li><b>use more stash yarn</b> - I only started one new project and used stash yarn for that! I will have to buy a few more balls to finish it though as I do not have enough.</li>
<li><b>buy less new yarn</b> - I only bought one skein of yarn this week and that is for a charity project I was asked to help out with, so I have no second thoughts about that purchase whatsoever. More details on this project later!</li>
<li><b>sell or donate stash yarn I no longer have any interest in</b> - Nothing new on this front this week.</li>
<li><b>add stash I plan on keeping to <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/" target="_blank">Ravelry</a> for easier tracking</b> - Nothing new on this front this week..</li>
<li><b>organize stash room</b> - Not going to happen any time soon. just discovered several leaks in the roof so just bundling everything up safely until we can get it repaired/replaced.</li>
<li><b>sell some of my finished items</b> - <a href="https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/SerenityYarns" target="_blank">I now how finished items as well as hand-dyed yarn listed on Etsy.</a> I have sold some yarn, but none of the finished items yet. Hopefully soon! It will help pay for the new roof! - I sold a skein of my hand-dyed yarn this morning! Yay!</li>
</ul>
<div>
<b><u><br /></u></b><b><u>Technique Goals</u></b></div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><b>double knitting</b> - Really enjoying the double knitting square. It's a little slow still, but not scary at all.</li>
<li><b>toe up socks </b>- I received some good tips from an avid sock knitter at my LYS, so going to work up a swatch and then attack some socks with my awesome new self-striping yarn I scored. Planning on starting this in February for a Spring Sock KAL.</li>
<li><b>more complicated lacework </b>- The MKAL lace shawl I am working on right now is actually pretty complicated. It has lacework on both the RS and WS and beads as well.</li>
<li><b>clothing items </b>- I was going to leave this for a bit due to my surgery, but then I figured I could make a sweater for my son! I am going to make him a <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/flax" target="_blank">Flax sweater</a> in some of that lovely red Shelridge Yarns worsted I have fallen in love with.</li>
</ul>
<div>
<b><u><br /></u></b><b><u>Specific Project Goals</u></b><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/gwenythlove/knit-the-bin-2016" target="_blank">I have created a project page on Ravelry called Knit The Bin</a> where I am collecting WIPs that I want to finish that were started before the beginning of 2015.<br />
<br />
I actually finally got around to picking up a bin and started storing the projects complete with their yarn, needles and pattern in Ziploc freezer bags. I feel all organized now! Unfortunately I have mostly been focused on new 2016 projects. /sigh<br />
<br />

<ul>
<li><b>A Wrinkle In Time Shawl</b> - Completed clue one January 16th.</li>
<li><b>Nemesis Shawl</b> - This has become my new TV/car knitting project. Still not done clue #1 yet.</li>
<li><b>Opal Shawl</b> - Stalled. </li>
<li><b>GAL 2016 Video Game Themed Blanket</b> - Square one in progress.</li>
<li><b>Scoreboard Scarf A</b> - Completed a few rounds this week.</li>
<li><b>Bow Ties Are Cool Doctor Who Themed Shawl</b> - Completed clue #1 January 22nd.</li>
<li><b>Depth Charge Shawl MKAL</b> - Completed clue #1 last night (January 24th). <b>LOVING THIS MKAL!!!</b></li>
<li><b>Askews Me Brioche Dress</b> - Completed a few rounds this week.</li>
<li><b>Bounce Baby Afghan</b> - Cast on this week.</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div>
<br />
Here is a peek at my Depth Charge MKAL. This is easily my favourite MKAL to date. The fabric produced by holding the strands double makes for a super squishy fabric I enjoy holding on to. The video tutorials provided by the designer, Josh, are super helpful, and very hilarious. I am actually up to date on this one so far! Finished clue #1 last night and started the pickup for clue #2. I am in love! (Even after having to weave in all those evil little ends!)<br />

<ul>
<li><b>finish more projects - </b>Nothing completed this week except a full clue of one of my MKALs.</li>
<li><b>start fewer projects</b> - Ummm...I started four new projects since my last update...</li>
<li><b>use more stash yarn</b> - Out of the four projects I started last week, 2 of them were started with yarn I had in my stash. 50% is not a bad ratio for me!</li>
<li><b>buy less new yarn</b> - I picked up some more of the worsted yarn for the GAL afghan, so I couldn't help myself there, and I also got sweet talked into some really awesome self-striping sock yarn.</li>
<li><b>sell or donate stash yarn I no longer have any interest in</b> - I found some crochet cotton in my closet I won't use and that will be going to my sister. I also found a bag full of knitted and crocheted squares that I will be donating to <a href="http://www.blankets4canada.ca/" target="_blank">Blankets For Canada</a>. Just have to find a way to meet up with someone for the drop off.</li>
<li><b>add stash I plan on keeping to <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/" target="_blank">Ravelry</a> for easier tracking</b> - So far just entering what I buy as it comes in. Still need to find time to do back stash.</li>
It will help pay for the new roof!</li>

<li><b>toe up socks </b>- I received some good tips from an avid sock knitter at my LYS, so going to work up a swatch and then attack some socks with my awesome new self-striping yarn I scored.</li>
<li><b>more complicated lacework </b>- The MKAL lace shawl I am working on right now is actually pretty complicated. It has lacework on both the RS and WS and beads as well.</li>

The results of this week's visit to the LYS. The <a href="http://www.shelridge.com/" target="_blank">Shelridge Yarns</a> Soft Touch Worsted Yarn is some of the softest and squishiest I have worked with, and it`s Canadian! Such a great choice for my GAL afghan. I am so glad the owner of my LYS encouraged me to try it.<br />

<br />
I participate in "A Year of Projects" which is run by a <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/groups/a-year-of-projects" target="_blank">group</a> over on <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/" target="_blank">Ravelry</a>.<br />
<br />
I am hoping it will (a) help me be more productive (b) help me finish more projects and (c) help me blog more often... Fingers crossed!<br />
<br />
Here is an update on current goals, and progress towards those goals.<br />
<br />
<b><u>General Overall Goals</u></b><br />
<ul>
<li><b>finish more projects - </b>Finished a project this weekend!</li>
<li><b>start fewer projects</b> - Not working our well since a group I am part of is actually having a cast-on-apalooza!I have already started 4-5 projects since January 1st...</li>
<li><b>use more stash yarn</b> - I have been using stash and/or inventory yarn as much as possible, so that's good!</li>
<li><b>buy less new yarn</b> - Not so good since two projects I really wanted to work on both required worsted weight yarn which I did not have so I did have to buy some this week.</li>
<li><b>sell or donate stash yarn I no longer have any interest in</b> - Before Christmas I actually gave my sister a few big bags of yarn I no longer will use. I am sure both her and my mom will receive more from me in the future. I also did manage to sell off some of the higher end stash I knew I was never going to get around to using, so yay!</li>
<li><b>add stash I plan on keeping to <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/" target="_blank">Ravelry</a> for easier tracking</b> - So far just entering what I buy as it comes in. Still need to find time to do back stash.</li>
It will help pay for the new roof!</li>
</ul>
<div>
<b><u><br /></u></b><b><u>Technique Goals</u></b></div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><b>double knitting</b> - Going to hopefully cast on a DK GAL square tonight!</li>
<li>toe up socks</li>
<li>more complicated lacework</li>
<li>clothing items</li>
</ul>
<div>
<b><u><br /></u></b><b><u>Specific Project Goals</u></b><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/gwenythlove/knit-the-bin-2016" target="_blank">I have created a project page on Ravelry called Knit The Bin</a> where I am collecting WIPs that I want to finish that were started before the beginning of 2015.</div>
</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><b><strike>2015 Advent KALendar Shawl</strike> (completed 01/09/16)</b></li>

<li>Meander Cardigan</li>
<li>Wintersweet Shawl</li>
<li>Spellbound Shawl</li>
<li>Mara Shawl</li>
<li>Hello Sweetie Spoilers Socks</li>
<li>50 Shades of Awesome</li>
</ul>
<div>
<b><u><br /></u></b></div>
<div>
<b><u>Projects Started in 2016 I Want To Complete This Year</u></b></div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>A Wrinkle In Time Shawl</li>

<li>Opal Shawl</li>
<li>GAL 2016 Video Game Themed Blanket</li>

</ul>
</div>
<div>
<br />
I have many other WIPs and I cannot list them all. I will add more as I dig them out and actually touch them again to make sure they are real... As you can see I have a real starting problem...actually it's not starting that's the problem...it's finishing!<br />
<br />
Picture of the finished Advent KALendar shawl. I still need to soak it and block it, but it's lovely!<br />
<br />

<br />
And here is the yarn I bought this week. To be fair...I had not visited my LYS in almost a year, so of course I had to stock up a wee bit!<br />

<br />
It has been almost a full year since I last posted to this blog.<br />
<br />
2015 was a busy year for me. I was diagnosed with a chronic illness (details if you are interested can be found on my more personal blog <a href="http://everything-gwenny.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Everything Gwenny</a>) and spent pretty much the entire year sick and in pain. I missed a lot of work and realized that at some point I might lose my job and so therefore needed to look at other options.<br />
<br />
Being the yarnie that I am I decided to open both a retail online yarn store, <a href="http://www.serenityyarns.com/" target="_blank">Serenity Yarns</a>, and an Etsy shop (also named <a href="https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/SerenityYarns" target="_blank">Serenity Yarns</a>) for my hand-dyed yarns. So far it has been a lot of fun. It's still not enough to support me full time, and maybe it never will, but it's very enjoyable, and it makes me happy...which is the most important part.<br />
<br />
As such, I am going to be using this blog to support both those outlets as well as continue using it for my own personal crafting as well. I will feature product reviews, both yarn and accessories, as well as contests, special deals, and more!<br />
<br />
I didn't get a whole lot of projects completed last year, partially due to the illness and being in an almost constant fog of pain and painkillers, and also partially due to my love of constantly starting new projects.<br />
<br />
The first project I completed wasn't until June, almost half way through the year. It was a test knit for an indie yarn dyer and designer I adore, <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/designers/julia-wardell" target="_blank">Pandia's Jewels</a>. I think it was the fastest I ever finished a project like this as well, taking me only 6 weeks to knit the entire shawl. I used one of her themed colorways, Gamora, based on the character of the same name from Guardians of The Galaxy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://images4-d.ravelrycache.com/uploads/gwenythlove/309681799/2015-06-22_20.07.19_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://images4-d.ravelrycache.com/uploads/gwenythlove/309681799/2015-06-22_20.07.19_medium2.jpg" height="296" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Other than that I mostly did knitting to sell on Etsy including various cozy cowls and hats. Active listings for my hand knit items can be found on <a href="https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/SerenityYarns?section_id=17791171&ref=shopsection_leftnav_6" target="_blank">Esty, here</a>.<br />

My goal for this year is to finish more WIPs. I am running a Knit The Bin KAL (an awesome idea from our fabulous group member REJ) over on my <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/groups/serenity-yarns" target="_blank">Ravelry Group Page</a>. Come on over and join us and we can encourage one another to finish our WIPs. I mean just look at this picture of my desk right now...I obviously need the help...</div>

My other main knitting goal for this year is to learn double knitting. It is something I have really wanted to learn for quite some time, and some new patterns that have come to my attention require this skill. So it is definitely a must!</div>

I have lost track of what week number this should be. I am going to move to a fiscal year tracking instead as it makes it easier.<br />
<br />
Last year was a year of great illness for me. I spent almost just as much time healthier as I did sick and in pain. I have a new specialist and hope for 2015 to be a much healthier year, and therefore a much more productive year as well!<br />
<br />
Below is a short list of projects I completed over the course of 2014.<br />

<br />
Welcome to week #4 of a year of projects!<br />
<br />
I spent most of this week finishing up and photographing my entries for Nerd Wars, Tournament #11, Round #2. I had to post my sock to prove my 50% dissertation progress, and I added the hate I shared with you last week as one of my challenge posts. I also posted the armwarmers for my WIP challenge. On top of that I posted two blanket squares for two other challenges. (Only the hexagon square was completed this week.)<br />

I cast on two new socks this week as well. Yes...I might be addicted!<br />
<br />
The first sock is a dedication to Doctor Who's Companion, River Song, knit in a hand dyed yarn specifically for this sock pattern. The yarn is the Snug base from <a href="http://www.pandiasjewels.com/pages/frontpage">Pandia's Yarn</a> and the colourway is called Spoilers dyed specifically for the Doctor Who Companion Sock Club. The pattern is called <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/spoilers-socks-doctor-who-inspired">Spoilers Socks</a> by <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/designers/cc-almon">C.C. Almon (JavaPurl)</a> on <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/">Ravelry</a>.<br />

<br />
I am not entirely sure how I feel about this weird little toe, but we will see how it goes.<br />
<br />
I finally cast on my son's <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/vinovia" target="_blank">Vinovia Socks</a>, but after working toe up on the above socks I am not really loving this cuff down pair.<br />

<br />
The hubby and I took a nice trip up to Bobcaygeon, Ontario and enjoyed walking around town and watching some ships pass through the locks. I think I finally found (fell in love with) the place where I would like to settle down in the near future. It is just so calm and relaxing and quaint. I just adore it!<br />
<br />
As it was quite the drive there I obviously got a little more work done on my car travel project as well.<br />
<br />

<br />
Last but not least I also finished the first lace repeat on my <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/gwenythlove/191-tabitha-cocoon-cardigan">Tabitha Cocoon Cardigan</a>. It's going slowly, but at least I am working on it. This picture is not up to date, but it will give you a feeling for what it is like.<br />

<br />
Welcome to week #3 of a year of projects!<br />
<br />
I did a lot of knitting this week, but not a whole lot of finishing. We had a family emergency Thursday afternoon and had to rush out of town and didn't return until very late Friday. We then went back out of town Saturday to check in and make sure everything was OK. I took some mindless seed stitch knitting with me so I at least had something to do.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://38.media.tumblr.com/7e02103b28660a39ca5a2a1213683170/tumblr_n92l590p1j1qkov1zo1_500.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://38.media.tumblr.com/7e02103b28660a39ca5a2a1213683170/tumblr_n92l590p1j1qkov1zo1_500.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I did manage to cast on my second sock this week and at least complete the ribbed cuff and the first repeat of the pattern.<br />
<br />
I also managed to whip up the matching <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/gwenythlove/simple-hat-by-americo" target="_blank">Simple Hat</a> to go with <a href="http://kinzycrafts.blogspot.ca/2014/07/yop-year-of-projects-year-4-week-2.html" target="_blank">last week's</a> <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/gwenythlove/simple-armwarmers-by-americo" target="_blank">Simple Armwarmers</a>. Sadly it didn't fit me very well. I will have to add at least two more inches before the decreases if I am going to make this one again for myself. It fit the hubby pretty well though. (Don't tell him I shared this picture with you all...)<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
On Friday I won a pattern (<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/163-cable-love-cowl-neck-poncho" target="_blank">#163 Cable Love Cowl Neck Poncho</a>) from <a href="http://www.sweaterbabe.com/" target="_blank">SweaterBabe</a>. This obviously required a visit to my favourite LYS, <a href="http://www.americo.ca/" target="_blank">Amercio</a>, to pick out the right yarn for the job. I settled on one of my top picks, their fabulous <a href="http://www.americo.ca/shop/index.php?cPath=25_37&osCsid=6985f4139e0b86de802ac082217ee79f" target="_blank">Cadena Alpaquita</a> in a lovely natural cream colour. While I was out of town dealing with the family emergency I visited one of their <a href="http://elizaknits.com/" target="_blank">LYS</a> and picked up some nice <a href="http://www.chiaogoo.com/" target="_blank">ChiaoGoo</a> needles in the correct sizes. I almost succumbed to picking up their whole interchangeable set! But was strong...at least for now...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
My new favourite Knitter's Pride Karbonz DPN needles set was waiting on my desk this morning, which will make my son happy because now I can start his <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/vinovia" target="_blank">Vinovia Socks</a> I mentioned <a href="http://kinzycrafts.blogspot.ca/2014/07/yop-year-of-projects-year-4-week-2.html" target="_blank">last week</a>.<br />

<br />
Welcome to week #2 of a year of projects! I am pretty excited with my progress this week!<br />
<br />
First off, I finished a project that had been languishing in my WIP pile since September 2013. And I don't even know why I was putting it off! It was a breeze to finish. I completed the second armwarmer of the pair in about 4 hours while re-watching Doctor Who! Awesome right?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY8keE9ls2eu621TNbjiZ4S7hH9rLjYtDSJf5PF5xMzdNHj5XoXHqHmx9YS5Sg9uPOfUmjOxQQYcV6GMLSJK7sNh8biuRdyvgNhozkNuiSmtWZvyELwBRSnVVCxeBxsziaX8m0e3iNXbk/s1600/2014-07-06+00.45.42.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY8keE9ls2eu621TNbjiZ4S7hH9rLjYtDSJf5PF5xMzdNHj5XoXHqHmx9YS5Sg9uPOfUmjOxQQYcV6GMLSJK7sNh8biuRdyvgNhozkNuiSmtWZvyELwBRSnVVCxeBxsziaX8m0e3iNXbk/s1600/2014-07-06+00.45.42.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I also finished the first sock of the pair I am working on for my Nerd Wars Dissertation project. This means I have made the 50% check-in period with time to spare! And doesn't it look stunning?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_YIXGv7RRa-yaKRMVOfj7m4y9IxkKB6wnCR9fG2XswIhuNAiRJ6bDIFR6yyCp-Hu2QTzcVkIPa_DAtJf4XaaTndpEoRtMNa2SZJcfQEBVHuYWfm6QWTlx9sLohz-4qwntqKMTIcYIllQ/s1600/2014-07-14+08.39.05.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_YIXGv7RRa-yaKRMVOfj7m4y9IxkKB6wnCR9fG2XswIhuNAiRJ6bDIFR6yyCp-Hu2QTzcVkIPa_DAtJf4XaaTndpEoRtMNa2SZJcfQEBVHuYWfm6QWTlx9sLohz-4qwntqKMTIcYIllQ/s1600/2014-07-14+08.39.05.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
My son loved it so much he asked me to make a pair of socks for him. Since one of my goals s to use up some stash yarn, and I want to do this Canadian Designer KAL, we agreed to make the <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/vinovia" target="_blank">Vinovia Socks</a> in the <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/schachenmayr-regia-fluormania-color" target="_blank">Schachenmayr Regia Ffluormania Color</a> since I had 6 skeins in my stash. My son chose the <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/stash/search#colorway=7189+Neon+Ocean&photo=yes&yarn-link=schachenmayr-regia-fluormania-color" target="_blank">Neon Ocean</a> colourway. This should be fun!<br />

<b>In summary:</b><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>I finished one project (Simple Armwarmers from <a href="http://kinzycrafts.blogspot.ca/p/wow-where-heck-have-i-been-no-posts.html" target="_blank">my list</a>)</li>
<li>I did not start any new projects (but plan on starting the boy's socks soon)</li>
<li>I did not use stash yarn (but again, plan on doing so with the boy's socks)</li>
<li>I did sort of buy new yarn as I placed a custom order for T12's dissertation</li>
<li>I took some of my unloved yarn to my mother's house this weekend and placed still more in a charity donation pile</li>
<li>I added some stash to Ravelry, mostly the Fluromania (6 balls) as mentioned above</li>
<li>I did not get any work done on my stash room, but the hubby and I worked on the other half of the basement now that the sister is gone (it is not a pantry/library/work space)</li>
</ul>

<br />
Wow! Where the heck have I been? No posts since November 2013? Shame on me! Well here's hoping this changes all of that!<br />
<br />
I decided this year to take part in "A Year of Projects" which is run by a <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/groups/a-year-of-projects" target="_blank">group</a> over on <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/" target="_blank">Ravelry</a>. I am hoping it will (a) help me be more productive (b) helps me finish more projects and (c) help me blog more often... Fingers crossed!<br />
<br />
As this is week #1 of 52 our first assignment is to simply post a list of what we hope to achieve this year. Easy right? The hard part will be checking in every week to see how I have progressed with this list...<br />

Wednesday] November 20th, 2013W.I.P. Wednesday is a weekly post where we will spotlight one or more of our currently ongoing projects (works in process).<br />
<br />
This week I (Gwenyth) spent a huge chunk of time on homework, trying to catch up in order to make my January 31st deadline!<br />
<br />
I still managed some progress on old, and new, projects.<br />
<br />
I have now cast off the front panel of my version of <a href="http://en.bergeredefrance.ca/modeles/genre/femme/cat-13-14-n-719-pull-sans-manches.html" target="_blank">Bergere de France's Sleeveless Sweater</a>. I hope to be able to start the back panel in the near future.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLITgMM6YiZaSeZmp0T7e5LypynwwuQin7rCCmTPQrqi0aDjOS1Uf1RhOs2gulI-3w6DwxjG7gujiR-bDYs7FSdNDphTcTxVDkeNWz1j2N5o776kEBL01sSdCxKb4aePfmriEUSLh1LE4/s1600/2013-11-19+23.23.20.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLITgMM6YiZaSeZmp0T7e5LypynwwuQin7rCCmTPQrqi0aDjOS1Uf1RhOs2gulI-3w6DwxjG7gujiR-bDYs7FSdNDphTcTxVDkeNWz1j2N5o776kEBL01sSdCxKb4aePfmriEUSLh1LE4/s640/2013-11-19+23.23.20.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I did a few more rounds on the <a href="http://kinzycrafts.blogspot.ca/search/label/creeper%20hat" target="_blank">Creeper Hat</a> mentioned <a href="http://kinzycrafts.blogspot.ca/2013/11/wip-wednesday-november-6th-2013.html" target="_blank">last W.I.P.</a>, but nothing exciting enough to post.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
My <a href="http://kinzycrafts.blogspot.ca/search/label/doctor%20who%20scarf" target="_blank">Doctor Who Scarf</a> is progressing nicely. I am very fond of <a href="http://www.knitpicks.com/yarns/Wool_of_the_Andes_Worsted_Yarn__D5420103.html" target="_blank">the yarn</a> and <a href="http://www.knitpicks.com/needles/Straight_Harmony_Knitting_Needles__DSTNHarmonyneedles.html" target="_blank">the needles</a> are awesome to knit on.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2zO8Uvcjr2CM4c7FvL93xj4r8XBjIfjyrpXL0dPi23pt5eMKjrXyWorp6npTM5jrX5s4TNzqMax2nRaIyB9bHr4FeAvZLUbd-ktn3r9mgHtJcUNOiBzXL9TUEPvp25D2yV4gm_oVKkWU/s1600/2013-11-19+23.20.31.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2zO8Uvcjr2CM4c7FvL93xj4r8XBjIfjyrpXL0dPi23pt5eMKjrXyWorp6npTM5jrX5s4TNzqMax2nRaIyB9bHr4FeAvZLUbd-ktn3r9mgHtJcUNOiBzXL9TUEPvp25D2yV4gm_oVKkWU/s640/2013-11-19+23.20.31.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
This is definitely going to take me a while! (But I love it!)<br />
<br />
My birthday was at the end of October, and both my boys (my son and my other half) gifted me some yarn spending cash. My son even made homemade gift cards to accompany the cash. It was adorable!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoK_RcVUiLxH8rMQ99oTi_W2yThQ7jKtYbHFUIW3la3SlVbFKx_eFLbZXz6oaZQ3w9RfQaVOLOEEcBZIEeuNdzrepp82RRaZYqIMDjm-hie8rdr5uVacxTuI7Cfc1HYCfEn5q3S-cneXw/s1600/2013-10-27+09.54.40.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoK_RcVUiLxH8rMQ99oTi_W2yThQ7jKtYbHFUIW3la3SlVbFKx_eFLbZXz6oaZQ3w9RfQaVOLOEEcBZIEeuNdzrepp82RRaZYqIMDjm-hie8rdr5uVacxTuI7Cfc1HYCfEn5q3S-cneXw/s400/2013-10-27+09.54.40.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
I took advantage of this wonderful gift and picked myself up some yarn I have always wanted to try called <a href="http://ca.deramores.com/noro-kureyon" target="_blank">Noro Kureyon</a>. I wasn't sure entirely what to do with it but the lovely owner of <a href="http://creativeyarns.ca/" target="_blank">Creative Yarns</a> in Scarborough had a sample of a jacket hanging over her cash register and it totally inspired me, so I am making a jacket called Metamorphosis (pattern discontinued) with the <a href="http://ca.deramores.com/noro-kureyon" target="_blank">Noro</a> and <a href="http://www.berroco.com/yarns/berroco-ultra-alpaca" target="_blank">Berroco Ultra Alpaca</a>. It is knitted in panels on the bias to create a very striking look. Here is what I have completed so far. (I am loving this pattern and cannot put it down!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfBZajMMfOS9FZGEe8LE2DBnDZwSQF_Eu7zXkmPiTLzVYusYeNMCH3ERCz9WiO2p1pJ1rGCYTiroTvmI4S8JC8U451LynS0P845WJ7ci5myWwmUD4K2XGqUjtPXPap3LMV56oL7hmQRJc/s1600/2013-11-19+23.18.27.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfBZajMMfOS9FZGEe8LE2DBnDZwSQF_Eu7zXkmPiTLzVYusYeNMCH3ERCz9WiO2p1pJ1rGCYTiroTvmI4S8JC8U451LynS0P845WJ7ci5myWwmUD4K2XGqUjtPXPap3LMV56oL7hmQRJc/s640/2013-11-19+23.18.27.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
And last but not least...I have decided to attempt some crochet <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amigurumi" target="_blank">amigurumi</a>, specifically related to <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Little_Pony" target="_blank">My Little Pony</a>. And since my son is obsessed with <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_Dash#Rainbow_Dash" target="_blank">Rainbow Dash</a>, I figured I would start there. I am also going to try to whip up some of my own patterns for some scarves and wristers in various mlp themes since they seem pretty popular.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Wednesday] November 6th, 2013W.I.P. Wednesday is a weekly post where we will spotlight one or more of our currently ongoing projects (works in process).<br />
<br />
This week I (Gwenyth) spent time bouncing between a few projects (crafter's ADD), and still squeezed in quite a bit of homework!<br />
<br />
I progressed quite a bit further in my version of <a href="http://en.bergeredefrance.ca/modeles/genre/femme/cat-13-14-n-719-pull-sans-manches.html" target="_blank">Bergere de France's Sleeveless Sweater</a> mentioned <a href="http://kinzycrafts.blogspot.ca/2013/10/wip-wednesday-october-30th-2013.html" target="_blank">last week</a>. I am on the final section of the front and the flow of the colours is simply stunning (and super soft)!<br />

This week I also started messing around with a <a href="http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Creeper" target="_blank">Creeper</a> hat for my son due to his love <strike>obsession</strike> with <a href="https://minecraft.net/" target="_blank">Minecraft</a>. And finally, a special project I was inspired to work on due to both my infatuation with <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Who" target="_blank">Doctor Who</a> together with the 50th anniversary Doctor Who Revisited specials that have been running, I have decided to undertake a <a href="http://www.doctorwhoscarf.com/s12.html" target="_blank">season 12 Tom Baker scarf</a>... I will be using <a href="http://www.knitpicks.com/yarns/Wool_of_the_Andes_Worsted_Yarn__D5420103.html" target="_blank">Wool of the Andes (Worsted)</a> from <a href="http://www.knitpicks.com/" target="_blank">Knit Picks</a> in the colour scheme suggested on <a href="http://doctorwhoscarf.com/">doctorwhoscarf.com</a>. <br />
This week I focused mainly on two projects, and a whole lot of homework! I continued working on the sweater for my son. I have finished the first pattern section and am now on the second pattern section, which is seed stitch. Unfortunately I have not take a new picture yet.\<br />
<br />
I also started a version of <a href="http://en.bergeredefrance.ca/modeles/genre/femme/cat-13-14-n-719-pull-sans-manches.html" target="_blank">Bergere de France's Sleeveless Sweater</a>. I am using some of my favourite <a href="http://www.americo.ca/" target="_blank">Americo</a> yarn, <a href="http://www.americo.ca/shop/index.php?cPath=25_55&osCsid=435df928c9751718e795e443f99d8225" target="_blank">Eco Alpaca DK</a>, double stranded, to created the same variegated look. I am doing the first one in <a href="http://www.americo.ca/shop/product_info.php?cPath=25_55&products_id=780&osCsid=435df928c9751718e795e443f99d8225" target="_blank">Mulberry</a> and <a href="http://www.americo.ca/shop/product_info.php?cPath=25_55&products_id=779&osCsid=435df928c9751718e795e443f99d8225" target="_blank">Seashell</a>, and plan on doing a second one in <a href="http://www.americo.ca/shop/product_info.php?cPath=25_55&products_id=781&osCsid=435df928c9751718e795e443f99d8225" target="_blank">Dark Ocean</a> and <a href="http://www.americo.ca/shop/product_info.php?cPath=25_55&products_id=778&osCsid=435df928c9751718e795e443f99d8225" target="_blank">Seafoam</a>. I am loving the look and it's soooooo soft!<br />

<b><u>Crochet</u></b><br />
<br />
I have been working on the <a href="http://www.maggiescrochet.com/products/long-hooded-cape-crochet-pattern" target="_blank">long hooded cape by Maggie's Crochet</a> for a little while now. Here is an updated picture of my current status. I am using the <a href="http://www.marymaxim.ca/mary-maxim-starlette-worsted-weight-yarn.html" target="_blank">Starlette yarn from Mary Maxim</a>.<br />
<div>

<b style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;"><u>Knitting</u></b><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;">I have been messing around with an interesting older Lion Brand poncho pattern that incorporates a Boucle yarn and a ribbon yarn. I am quite enjoying it. Here is my progress so far. I am using some of the <a href="http://www.yarnspirations.com/yarns/soft-boucle" target="_blank">Soft Boucle yarn from Bernat</a> that I scored at the <a href="http://www.yarnfactoryoutlet.com/" target="_blank">Spinrite</a> summer tent sale and some discontinued <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/lion-brand-incredible" target="_blank">Lion Brand Incredible Rainbow ribbon yarn</a> that I tracked down through with <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/" target="_blank">Ravelry</a> stashes.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 18px;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://25.media.tumblr.com/b8b0d243a28a6354653044ada2418079/tumblr_mv4ms6Urkh1sj5dt9o2_1280.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://25.media.tumblr.com/b8b0d243a28a6354653044ada2418079/tumblr_mv4ms6Urkh1sj5dt9o2_1280.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And yes...this is the same ribbon yarn that starred in the below picture on our <a href="http://kinzycrafts.tumblr.com/" target="_blank">Tumblr</a> site. It seems one of my cats (or dogs) really likes the ribbon yarn as well...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://31.media.tumblr.com/672033e2df0715dc8795849eb37119b7/tumblr_mutfjjTeaf1sj5dt9o1_1280.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://31.media.tumblr.com/672033e2df0715dc8795849eb37119b7/tumblr_mutfjjTeaf1sj5dt9o1_1280.jpg" height="640" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
Lastly, I am currently working an a sweater for my son. He typically doesn't take much interest in my knitting or crocheting, but he saw this one sweater and really liked it and asked for it, so I am going to see how this works out! It is a <a href="http://www.bergeredefrance.com/modeles/genre-1/homme/cat-13-14-n-711-pull.html" target="_blank">sweater from the newest Bergere de France catalog</a> and I am using the <a href="http://www.americo.ca/shop/index.php?cPath=25_48&osCsid=a6f129b4c7a410fe1bcf523ca23e514b" target="_blank">Organic Cotton Merino</a> from my favourite lys (local yarn store), <a href="http://www.americo.ca/" target="_blank">Americo</a>.</div>

<br />
This week we are sharing a special project that although was not "freshly finished" still deserves it's own special post.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg19UbEBCaKpSfwQY2LBNg2i29jByECmv5Wj0lFF3TQxFUALZQ7SF6kmau7UnBCEe3kQeBYNThaPQ-PH8M7FA1M9YmymnoJB5r1Ka1cMHzlgLC6UuVYOoEkw7pNPokiPH8y1YuFahq0XYM/s1600/vcwolfscarf.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg19UbEBCaKpSfwQY2LBNg2i29jByECmv5Wj0lFF3TQxFUALZQ7SF6kmau7UnBCEe3kQeBYNThaPQ-PH8M7FA1M9YmymnoJB5r1Ka1cMHzlgLC6UuVYOoEkw7pNPokiPH8y1YuFahq0XYM/s400/vcwolfscarf.jpeg" height="400" width="298" /></a></div>
<br />
The <a href="http://kinzycrafts.blogspot.ca/p/fox-scarf.html">Wolf Scarf</a> was commissioned by a co-worker who immediately fell in love with our idea to turn a fox scarf into a wolf scarf simply by changing the colors. Those who know me well know that I am fairly obsessed with wolves.<br />
<br />
The fox scarf pattern was purchased from <a href="http://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/BeesKneesKnitting">Bees Knees Kitting</a> on <a href="http://www.etsy.com/ca/?ref=si_home">Etsy</a>. We then worked with our co-worker to determine the best yarns and colors for her. We agreed on <a href="http://ca.deramores.com/rico-design-essentials-soft-merino-aran/" target="_blank">Rico Design Essentials Soft Merino Aran</a>, a very soft 100% merino wool. The wolf scarf project required 1 skein of <a href="http://ca.deramores.com/rico-design-essentials-soft-merino-aran-cream-061" target="_blank">cream</a> and 6 skeins of <a href="http://ca.deramores.com/rico-design-essentials-soft-merino-aran-grey-093" target="_blank">grey</a>. We used some basic black acrylic from our personal stash for the nose. Our co-worker hunted down her own buttons for the eyes. My baby sister, Alina White, produced the finished item.<br />
<br />
This item can be commissioned by contacting me at <a href="mailto:kinzycrafts@gmail.com">gwenythlove@gmail.com</a>. It can be customized as a wolf, fox, or any color combination requested by you. We will work step by step with you to ensure your choices in yarn type, colors, and details such as eyes, etc. 50% of the agreed upon commission price is due before starting the project to cover the cost of materials.<br />
<br />

Hello there everyone and welcome to KinzyCrafts, where the crafts are kinzy and crazy, but still completely awesome!</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I learned to crochet long before I learned to knit, perhaps this is why crocheting is my go-to craft about 75% of the time. I find it easier, faster, and overall, more enjoyable.<br />
<br />
My mother taught me to crochet when I was about 8, I think. I honestly don't remember exactly how old I was. We started crocheting ornaments for the Christmas tree. After that I started to mess around with spirals to make earrings, hair accessories, etc...it was the 80's, give me a break! Scarves and blankets with easy repetitive patterns soon followed. Baby blankets are still some of my favourite projects to crochet.<br />
<br />
When I was about 15 my step-father's mother (Grandma) took the time to teach me how to knit while I was visiting them on the Reserve during my March break. I kept complaining that I was bored and there was so much snow I couldn't even open the front door to go outside. I was constantly pestering my Grandmother who was trying to knit. She decided to really keep me busy by handing me double pointed needles, a ball of blue yarn and a ball of white yarn, and taught me how to make thick warm socks that she used to make for all her boys to keep their feet warm during the cold winters (and cold fishing nights). I finished them pretty quickly (and loved it!) and so she taught me how to make a sweater on the round. I still enjoy knitting, but find it more useful for clothing items and save my crocheting for pretty much everything else.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I am a bit of a yarn-a-holic and have a whole room in my basement dedicated to my yarn and book obsessions.<br />
