Welcome to week #4 of a year of projects!
I spent most of this week finishing up and photographing my entries for Nerd Wars, Tournament #11, Round #2. I had to post my sock to prove my 50% dissertation progress, and I added the hate I shared with you last week as one of my challenge posts. I also posted the armwarmers for my WIP challenge. On top of that I posted two blanket squares for two other challenges. (Only the hexagon square was completed this week.)
The first sock is a dedication to Doctor Who's Companion, River Song, knit in a hand dyed yarn specifically for this sock pattern. The yarn is the Snug base from Pandia's Yarn and the colourway is called Spoilers dyed specifically for the Doctor Who Companion Sock Club. The pattern is called Spoilers Socks by C.C. Almon (JavaPurl) on Ravelry.
I am not entirely sure how I feel about this weird little toe, but we will see how it goes.
I finally cast on my son's Vinovia Socks, but after working toe up on the above socks I am not really loving this cuff down pair.
The hubby and I took a nice trip up to Bobcaygeon, Ontario and enjoyed walking around town and watching some ships pass through the locks. I think I finally found (fell in love with) the place where I would like to settle down in the near future. It is just so calm and relaxing and quaint. I just adore it!
As it was quite the drive there I obviously got a little more work done on my car travel project as well.
Last but not least I also finished the first lace repeat on my Tabitha Cocoon Cardigan. It's going slowly, but at least I am working on it. This picture is not up to date, but it will give you a feeling for what it is like.

Oh I love the lace and the colour is gorgeous. Hope you feel better about the socks as they progress.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I still new to both socks and lace so just a little overwhelmed here!
DeleteSocks can become very addictive. Your lace piece is gorgeous. Nice blanket block also. I agree that the toe of your new sock is a bit weird, but it might all work out in the end.
ReplyDeleteI am feeling the addiction already! Hopefully I can get to the point where I find a heel and toe structure that works best for me.
DeleteI love the neon socks. Hope the other ones improve - I like that little toe!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I hope my son likes the neon ones as well!
DeleteSuch good progress... I to love your lace work and the block you completed... Your little trip to Bobcaygeon sounds lovely too x
ReplyDeleteIt was a lovely trip! I fell absolutely in love. I can't wait to go back again.
DeleteI love weeks like this... Lots of little bits done... And a long car ride... Although I am not sure I feel about you moving away!
ReplyDeleteIf I do move away it won't be for at least two years most likely. The boy wants to finish his high school year at his current school.
DeleteReally great progress for the week, love the lace and I hope you fall in love with the toe of the sock before they are finished.
ReplyDeleteI am really hoping the shaping or whatever for the rest of the sock put this toe in it's place...lol.
DeleteLove the Spoiler yarn - so many interesting colours. As for that toe, for my feet it's a bit narrow. My big toe and next toe are similar length so I find a blunter, more wedge shaped toe works better for me. On cuff-down I graft with 24 sts or so left and on toe-up I cast on more stitches. As for toe-up vs. cuff-down I prefer cuff down, mostly because the typical heel flap construction is so easy to modify for my pointy heeled, high instepped, fat ankled feet.
ReplyDeleteBobcaygeon is nice but I think I prefer Lakefield for a similar vibe.
It is such stunning yarn isn't it? I think I am going to have to add Lakefield to a future drive to evaluate! Thanks for the tip!
